WOW 3 posts in one day!! How's that for kicking my butt into shape on this whole blogging thing!!
So one of my goals this year is to finally loose the fat and it's been going great so far! One of the things I love about the type of eating I'm doing is once a week I have a re-feed day where I get to eat almost anything I want in the evening. So to have some fun I have been trying some new recipes. If you have anything really good you think I should try please let me know!! It can be like regular food, snack foods or dessert!
If you know me well you know that I absolutely LOVE Oreos! I have always liked them and the golden ones are amazing but lately I have really just been obsessed with chocolate double stuffed Oreos. Also, brownies are like one of my favorite desserts so for my first re-feed I found this awesome looking recipe online and I had to try it. Cookies and Cream Brownies
They look good right?
Ya, they flipping look amazing!!! So I had really high hopes for them. Now don't get me wrong, they weren't bad by any means, they just didn't live up to the hype I put on them. The brownie was really good but I think there was just too much frosting and it needed like double the Oreos crushed in it. So keep that in mind if you make them, half the frosting, double the crushed Oreo. haha
I Instagramed this photo after I got all the ingredients, I was super stoked to make them!
The next re-feed I had really been craving lemon cookies. I got this recipe from my cousin and they are delicious! Super quick, easy to make and taste amazing! I'm not real big on lemon stuff, I really can't stand lemon bars and I'm not a real big fan of lemon pie so it's kind of amazing that I love these cookies so much. But I'm telling you, they are goooood! This is a really bad picture but here you go anyway.
These are a cake mix cookie which is why they are so quick. The texture is so yummy, I guess I would say they are dense? Really they are amazing! I saw a recipe online for a Strawberry cookie. I love my lemon ones so I figured I would try it. The recipes are nothing alike. The strawberry ones call for cream cheese which makes the batter really sticky and harder to work with.
These remind me of a cupcake top, so if you looking for a way to make just cupcake tops, this is a great option. The texture of these is light and cakey. Which may not be surprising, they are made with a cake mix but my lemon ones are nothing like it which is what I was comparing these to. These are good but not what I was looking for so I didn't like them as much. I just wasn't in the mood for cake when I made these I wanted cookies. I totally want to try Strawberry cookies again sometime using my Lemon cookie recipe and swapping the lemon cake mix for a strawberry mix. I'm glad I tried this recipe to confirm what I already knew, Becca's are the best.
Sweets are not the only thing I'm eating on my re-feed day, it's just been the only thing I've made. We have gone to a couple of our favorite places for regular food like Los Betos, the BEST Mexican food in Boise, hands down! I didn't take a picture but my Carnitas Plate was amazing as always! Their tortillas are the best ever. I get the same thing every time because it is sooo good! But I also like the Shredded Beef Burritos and their Chimichanga and Danny has gotten the Steak Ranchero and it's awesome, if you are interested in going there sometime.
Our other favorite place to go is Costa Vida. They have the most delicuios sweet pork burritos. There are only 2 things that we get here, 1st is the Smothered Sweet Pork Burrito w/ medium sauce, you must get it smothered and with medium sauce otherwise I can't guarantee that it will be good. And the 2nd is the Sweet Pork Salad. Pretty much the same thing just with a lot more lettuce. It's delicious and their house dressing is amazing. I also get a side of medium sauce to get the perfect sweet pork flavor. Go there, try it, it will change your life! I was so happy to eat my salad last week I Instagramed it.
Anyway, that is what I have been dying to re-feed with this past month. I'm sure there will be another post with more delicious re-feed treats. On my list for the coming weeks (so far) are pumpkin waffles, blueberry muffins, teriyaki chicken and rice bowls, more Oreos, something with whip cream, Papa John's pizza, bananas, more of this chocolate ice cream and this chocolate ice cream and Funyuns and maybe a Red Robin burger or two... again, if you have any suggestions please let me know!!
