I've been a little behind, I've been meaning to post these photos for a long time now. March 8th was Benji's 2nd Birthday and because of my training we were unable to attend the party so we went over the Sunday before. Here he is, the birthday boy!!!
He's such a cute little boy! I love his little smile!
Happy Birthday Benji!!!Back in February Danny and I had the opportunity to go the wedding of a friend of mine. I've know Jenny sense my Sophomore year of High School. She started dating this boy, I think, either Senior year or the year after we graduated. Anyway, it's been a few years now and they decided they wanted to get married! Congratulations to the both of them!!!
Theirs was a little different then all the LDS wedding receptions that I have been to. The only other "regular wedding" that I had been to was my friend Evie who got married shortly after graduation. I was able to attend with all my girlfriends from school, it was a lot of fun. But that was a few years ago and I hadn't had the wonderful opportunity to be married in or even go through the Temple. Once you have that wonderful experience anything different seems, well, different.I noticed things that day that were very different to me. The first thing right off the bat was how loud it was. Very different from the Temple, I remember it being so quiet and peaceful inside the Temple. Sitting with my husband to be in the Celestial Room, everything felt so calm and perfect.
When we first walked into the church there was a little foyer to walk through before we were seated in the room where the ceremony took place. As we walked through you could hear music playing and all the people in the other room noisily chatting over it, waiting for the ceremony to get started.
Once we were seated, I looked around at all the decorations. It was lovely and I was happy to be in an isle seat, I had a great view of the ceremony. But the second thing I noticed was how dark it was. All the decorations were beautiful, there was ribbon and flowers all over with lights strung across the ceiling and the main lights were great big white balls. It looked very pretty and cozy, but such a contrast to the bright and glorious Celestial and Sealing Rooms of the Temple.
The ceremony was sweet, both of their fathers are Pasters and his Dad conducted the beginning of the ceremony then her Dad took over and married them. Her sister sang a beautiful song by Switchfoot (one of my favorites from "A Walk To Remember") and at the end after they lit the candles, fun music played as the entire wedding party danced down the isle and out of the room.
It was a lot of fun and I'm glad we were able to attend. I'm very happy for her and her new husband. I am sure the evening went perfectly as planned, unfortunately we couldn't stay for the reception that followed but it was fun to see her and to see her take the next step in her life.
It was a happy reminder for me and I feel very blessed that Danny and I were able to be married in the Temple and we will be able to enjoy the Eternal blessings from that decision if we live our lives faithfully.
