I know, I'm so bad, it's been 3 weeks since Danny's birthday weekend and I'm just now getting around to writing about it. The birthday boy turned 24 this year!!! Danny's birthday was Sunday, September 20th! Happy Birthday Baby!!!!!
Friday to celebrate we went to the Shinedown concert!!! It was awesome! We got to hear 3 really great bands and one not as great band. As we were walking down the ally to go stand in line Danny saw his friend standing in line with his wife. We went over to say hi and to talk to them. It was great to see someone we knew there so we stood next to them during the concert. The show was at the Knitting Factory and the place was packed! It was a sold out show! Neither of us brought our phone with us so we didn’t get any pictures.
The opener was Adelitas Way.
They were really great! We were both very impressed! After seeing them in concert, we are fans now! They put on a really great show! We can’t wait to get their album!
Next up was Cavo. They have a pretty good song on the radio so I was interested to hear what the rest of their stuff sounds like. Needless to say, I think now we all know why they only have one song on the radio, it’s the only good one. We were bored and just waited for their set to be over.
Then Sick Puppies came on!
This is one of my favorite bands so I was very excited! They are from Australia and they are awesome! It was so much fun to see them live! They did such a fantastic job! They have an awesome sound, I really love listening to their music! Plus, they have a girl bass player and that is awesome! I’ve always wanted to play the bass guitar.
And finally the headliner SHINEDOWN!
They were amazing! Watching them was awesome! They played great music and they are very talented! You could really see why these guys can get paid so much for their music. All the other bands could play well and everything don’t get me wrong, but Shinedown is very good at what they do. Their 2 guitarist not only played their regular electric guitars but there was also an acoustic they would play during the same song and one played the piano is some songs. It was so much fun to watch, they were all over the place! I have always liked this band and if they came to town again I think we would go see them again.
It was a very fun concert and we both had a blast! I’m glad Danny enjoyed it!
Saturday was Danny’s birthday party! We had family over to celebrate and have cake. I made Danny’s favorite Red Velvet cake and it was a hit. This is the same one Danny made in August I just used a different frosting. It was yummy and Danny added the nuts to decorate it! I had fun making it for him.
I also made a trifle incase someone didn’t want cake and it turned out pretty well too! :)
We sang Happy Birthday and Danny blew out his candle… I only had one, it’s pretty sad.
But it was a lot of fun! After the party Danny and I met up with Kyle and his girlfriend Rachel! We went downtown to the Hyde Park Street Fair. We parked at my Grandma’s house and walked the few blocks to the park. On our way we stopped at Goodies. This is one of my favorite stores! They have the BEST vanilla ice cream and the BEST caramel corn! Mmmmmmm! Well worth the wait I think! The fair was fun, we walked around and looked at the booths. I bought a bottle of Henna I was very excited about! Then I think it was Kyle’s idea to hike to the top of Camels Back. Well I have to say, I have been to Camels Back millions of times and hiked the hill millions of time but I don’t ever remember going straight up the front. I’ve always opted to go around the side, it’s not as steep and there are stairs! Obviously I’m not the best hiker and no, it’s not one of my favorite activities, I like the easy way around. You still get to the top, there is just less work. Well Kyle wanted to go the hard way…. I was so glad when we were finally at the top! This was our view.
Thank you Danny for the photograph, I would not have even thought to take one. I was trying to catch my breath! I was so glad when they all agreed it would be okay to take an alternate way down the hill.
Sunday, Happy Birthday Danny!!!!! In the morning I made pancakes for breakfast and Danny had some leftover cake as well. It’s his birthday, cake for breakfast is okay!!
(Danny's Photograph as well)
Then we were off to church. After that we headed over to Danny’s parents’ for dinner! We had Danny’s favorite, lasagna!!! Mmmm sooo yummy! And we sang Happy Birthday to him again and this time he got 2 candles to blow out, the 2 and the 4! I wish I would have gotten a picture, it was a rice crispy cake!!! We had a lot of fun! I’m so glad Danny enjoyed his birthday!
